In 1998 Gaige founded Spruce one of New York City, and Los Angeles’ most highly acclaimed and awarded flower boutiques. Since opening Spruce at 75 Greenwich Avenue, NYC, Clark’s designs have appeared in movies, TV shows, music videos, and commercials. Gaige has been featured in over thirty national and international publications. Her designs and integrity have also attracted an exclusive list of celebrities, socialites, politicians, and royalty from around the globe. Clark’s visionary brand of floral design, coined “New England Garden,” arose from her family settling in Massachusetts over 367 years ago. Her inspiration came from her grandmother, Marion Leary, who founded the Hudson Gladiola Flower Farm in the 1940’s. Clark has grown the brand and developed a new line of plant based Botanical Products and a new style of flower art. It is with her vision Spruce has evolved into a budding flower shop, offering the ‘best’ in floral design for the greater part of New York City! Clark closed Spruce NYC for good in the winter of 2024, but her Los Angeles Spruce is still alive and well and can be found at www.sprucela.com and on Instagram at sprucela.
In 2019 Clark began teaching herself woodcarving by working with the fallen Purple Lilac trees she had pruned in her yard. Falling in love with the wood and the spoons, she founded SpoonBear.net where she began selling at local farmers markets in Woodstock NY and Hudson MA. The spoons took off and Clark brought the spoons to Provincetown MA where she has been living part time since 2020.While in Provincetown Clark found that her business experience and knowledge was helpful to friends, shop owners, and people stopping to buy her spoons at Town Hall. While working on a few friends projects in Provincetown she decided that she would finally open her consulting practice. Calling it August Anchor, a family name partnered with her favorite symbol of living on the water.
